Who are Beadstorm Designs?
Artist, Sarah Cain, created Beadstorm Designs in 2010. Born in Darlington, County Durham Sarah moved to Cambridge in 1996 after gaining a First Class Honours Degree in Textiles and Fashion from John Moores University. She exhibited her artwork in galleries, was a regular volunteer at Kettles Yard, and a stage crew member at The Cambridge Corn Exchange. Following a move to Abbotsley, Sarah worked within a successful art gallery in Huntingdonshire for over eight years. In 2010 Sarah decided to try something new and after undertaking several jewellery courses she settled on using silver, copper and bronze clay to create her designs. Sarah has always had an interest in the countryside, wildlife and the great outdoors. She derived a technique enabling her to produce her own hand carved moulds from which she could create unique pendants of birds of prey, garden birds, foxes, hares and other British Wildlife from fine silver. Each pendant is taken from an original drawing which is then created in fine silver, dried, sanded and fired with a blow torch or kiln fired, then it is sanded, antiqued and finally polished. The pendant is attached to a sterling silver chain and presented with a freshwater pearl or semi-precious stone charm. Each piece is hand signed by Sarah with a little running hare.
Sarah’s jewellery is exhibited in Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire, Northamptonshire and Bedfordshire Galleries.
