Who are Beadstorm Designs?
Roxane and Sarah are great friends and met when their children were very young at a parent and child group. Both having artistic backgrounds they often discussed art and creative interests and agreed to work together once their children had started school; and were no longer causing mayhem at home for a few hours at least!! They work together in their studio based at Sarah's family home in rural Cambridgeshire together with a number of four legged friends who choose to accompany them while they work. Both artists grew up surrounded by nature. Roxane spent her childhood playing on the river next to her converted watermill home in Herfordshire; often rescuing and hand rearing abandoned wildlife.
Sarah from County Durham spent most of her time horse riding on the North Yorkshire Moors and looking after her many pets. Creating Jewellery depicting British Wildlife is something that they love. The artists carve a mould which is fired and able to withstand silver clay being pressed into it . The silver clay is embelished by hand. It is then dried, fired, sanded and polished; no two pieces are the same.
Sarah and Roxane have worked within the art industry for over 17 years. Roxane worked as a freelance illustrator specialising in watercolour portraiture. Sarah, after graduating in 1996 with a first class honours degree in Textiles and Fashion from Liverpool John Moores University worked within a successful art gallery for eight years. Sarah also exhibited her artwork in galleries in East Anglia.
